Recession in US and its impact in India

We have been talking about recession for the past few months. This 'so called recession' has impacted the people across the globe in different ways. 'How the recesion started?', 'What is the real impact on India?'. 'When the normalcy will be restored?' - These are the few questions raised by many people.
In this context, we spoke to Prof. Bala V Balachandran, a distinguished professor in Kellogg School of Management in USA. He is considered as one of the Top 10 Management Gurus in the world. He is an 'Adhoc Advisor' to President Obama. He is alo advisor to various Governments, including Indian Planning Commission. He has a passion for developing Management Institutes in India to provide world-class Management education.
He is mainly responsible for setting up globally renowned Greatlakes Institute of Management at Chennai and Indian School of Business at Hyderabad. He is also closely associated with Management development institute at Gurgaon in designing the programmes. In recognition of his contribution to management education in India, Govt. of India honoured him with the coveted Padma shree award in 2001.
Prof. Bala is also known as 'Uncle Bala' amongst his students and colleagues. We recorded his interview on 2nd Sep 2009 over telephone, during his short visit to India. In this interview, he has spoken about the start of the recession, its impact in India, salary parity between IT and traditional industries, etc.
